Finding Crystal Reports V8.5

Jul 18, 2007 4 Replies

Hello,

I would like to find Crystal Reports V8.5 to create a def file but have no idea how or if this can be done. I download a trial version of version 11.0 I believe but understand that I can't do this, create a def file.

Is Crystal Reports V11.0 a better version to actually have If it is not possible to find Crystal Reports V8.5 anywhere? I am using RMS 2.0 and think I can use Crystal Reports V11.0 okay but it would be easier for the others in my office if I could create a def file(s) so they could access these reports from RMS.

Thanks in advance!

John K.

I don't think report file (.rpt) created by Crystal V11 can work in RMS 1.3 and pre versions, but not sure RMS 2.0. ".DEF" file is purely text, you can use notepad to edit.

Regards, Jas> Hello,

hi Jason, the 1.3 version you can only use the crystal report 8.5 and lower version but can't use the higher version. the .def file is the source file for the rpt to be run from RMS so for each .rpt you need .def file with same name, RMS actually read all the fields, grouping and paramters from .def file.

What else help you need let us know what report you need to devel> I don't think report file (.rpt) created by Crystal V11 can work in RMS 1.3

Or go on ebay like I did... 8.5 is on there pretty regular for a lot less than $600. I only needed it for RMS anyway. Miserable program to learn though.
