Sage Mas90 or Mas200

Hi all,

I am not an accountant but an IS guy. We recently installed Mas200 and am looking for a newsgroup to join.

If anyone knows of one please let me know.

If there are people here who can help, my problem is as follows:

We import invoices into AR from a .csv file and have to use a few user-defined fields. I cannot figure out how to get these fields to print on the invoice using Crystal Reports. I am working with a vendor but this is their first MAS sale and they are learning as I am (they were our Platinum vendor and I could not find any local dealer MAS that seemed competent).

Support from Best has not been great.

Any help appreciated,

Rick

Good luck, Rick.

I've worked with MAS-90 and BusinessWorks in many versions over the years (I'm an accounting systems consultant, and my work is to get whatever system someone has working for them properly). I have had extrememly poor success with Crystal Reports doing anything at all for me - and yes, their support is less than stellar. A new client has a new program that is _supposed_ to work with BusinessWorks. I hope to be getting to that part of the project in another couple of weeks; right now I'm still trying to get their current COA and A/R problems fixed.

If you're still having trouble in a couple of weeks, re-post or email me offline; I may have info on this accessory program by then.

Yeah, I hate Crystal Reports. It was the cause of many headaches for me when one of the Acctg software pkgs that I sell hooked up with Crystal Reports (now Crystal Decisions, I believe) to do custom reports and forms. Of course, as soon as the Acctg Software users found out they could get things (mostly forms) customized to their liking, they wanted it done. The problem is to find the absolute right person. There are lots of people out there who know the Accounting Software and lots who know Crystal Reports, but it takes an intimate knowledge of both to be truly effective and to give you what you want in an economical and timely manner.

Keep in mind that as soon as you start using any Crystal Reports customizations in your Acctg System, the Acctg System Software developer will not answer any questions if you have problems with any of the customized functions you have added on. Also, every time the Acctg Software developer changes the layout of any of the files, your Crystal Report customizations will have to be redone.

Perhaps the MAS 200 developers could recommend someone to do your Crystal Reports work. The person doesn't have to be in your geographical area to do the work.

I found the whole Crystal Reports thing a true pain in the ass and no longer sell that particular Acctg Software package.

Best! Rick

Rick, I should be able to solve your problem. Do you have remote access of any kind?

Thanks for the replies. We did get the problem resolved. You need to go outside of Crystal and redo the ARinvoice.wrk SQL statement.
