sec forms accounting & processing

On some accounting & finance help wanted ads, the folks request specific expierence w/SEC filings and reports. These are snr CFO and Controller opportunities. What are some typical SEC reports a small public fime or accounting department would file? How many, how often, etc? Or, is there a good url "out there" to use as guidelines and a quick education in SEC formsd and filings?

thanx....

There's the 10K and 8K (no - they aren't races, or maybe they are) and 10Q to be prepared along with annual and/or quarterly financials and a slew (and I'm not kidding) of other financial and regulatory reporting for most, if not all, public companies. In some cases the reporting to other government agencies might be more frequent. In fact, the 8K has a *four day* filing due date from the date of a triggering event. It's possible to have to file multiple 8K's throughout the year. After Katrina, a slew of 8K's were filed because of Material Impairments to company assets.

Then do some Google searches for the key words or forms. 10K - 8K - 10Q - etc

You really can't cut your teeth on the job for this, and bluffing isn't going to work either. You have to basically start some place else (at another position in accounting) and work into that experience, then apply for the jobs where experience is required.
