Transaction Fees

Quoted a price of per transaction times by 50 cents + 100.00

For example, if there is 80 receipts to be entered the cost quoted was (80 x .50) + $100.00 for a total of $140.00 is this a reasonable charge?

What other ways do accountants and bookkeepers charge for their services?

Thanks,

If you know how long it takes to not only "enter" those 80 transactions, but all the other administrative functions that precede and follow the actual entering of the 80 transactions. Then there is the liability exposure that you carry for entering those transactions, etc and so on. But if you are comfortable with that, go ahead.

Hi Paul,

This was what was quoted to me, I am just wondering if this is a reasonable charge or not?

Thanks

I think billing per item posted is ridiculous. Bill by the hour for the amount of time it takes to sort through and organize your work and how long it actually takes to input the data. Billing per item in that method is focusing on the minutae of the job.

The customer will be quite happy paying for 3 1/2 hours of work is that's how long it takes you. If their stuff is a mess, perhaps paying you 5 hours for work that should only take 3 1/2 will be incentive for them to be more organized too.

What are you getting besides 80 entries? Are you getting a financial report of some kind? Are you getting business, tax, or other financial advice? An estimate of my fees for a financial statement report(s) based on an 80 transaction month would be $230. Other factors would run the final fee higher.
