Transaction Clear Times

Hi,

Is it me, or are the number of days things take to transfer/clear slipping the wrong way - regardless of what you are trying to do.

On my C/Cards, it used to be that they needed 3-4 days to credit your account with cheque payments. Just noticed that on most, this has slipped up to now take 5-7 working days, giving them an extra 2 days to hang on to the money or say that your account was paid late and give you charges.

Also, on things like Paypal, transfering money back to the your bank account a day or so longer than it used to. what is really insulting with Paypal is that it actually says on the transfer screen, "Transfers to UK banks takes 5-7 working days. Transfers to US banks takes 3-4 working days".

Why is it so slow for us brits?

Cheques take two working days, and I ignore what it says on the statement and have yet to have a problem

If the payment wad due on Fri 13th I would have posted it on Tues, they get it wed, and it clears from my bank on Fri. I have yet to pay a late fee doing this, and the payment always shows on the statement as recieved on the due date. They wont let you use that money for a while though but I suppose that only matters if your really broke, which I have been in the past.

Paypal was predicatble a couple of years ago, ie request mon, appeares in bank fri. now its nearer 7 days.

Debit cards puzzle me. If the credit card companies are to be believed, ie 3 working days to clear, I leave every shop where I pay by debit card without actually paying for it. I cant see ttesco allowing that, can you !
