I've just had a stinking great row with Nationwide because they couldn't do me an overseas transfer. Nobody on reception so I had to queue for 15 minutes to get to a teller only to be told that transfers are done by reception. I gave them the ultimatum to do the transfer, give me a cheque for £5000 that I would take to another bank and get them to do the transfer or close the account. I now have a cheque in joint names. Can I still pay this into a single named account or have Nationwide shafted me? On an aside, in 2005 why do we have to put up with this shit.
