Assembly Items

I noticed for the first time in doing an assembly item, that I can list the prices myself, which helps because I have a product which contains 5 items...the problem I run into is when the assembly is scanned, you can go through and delete items one by one...and the customer would get a discounted price on certain items if the cashier wanted to be dishonest...is there a way to have the transaction canceled if one item from the assembly is deleted?

One way you could prevent this is with a kit.

The other way is with Cashier permissions; remove the "Allowed to delete entries from transactions" permission for the cashier(s). The downside to this is if the customer changes their mind about an item or the cashier somehow accidently enters and item, they will have to abort the entire transaction and start over again (or call a manager who has permission to remove items from the transaction.) If you do set this option, make sure they're atleast "Allowed to abort transactions", otherwise if they will have no way to abort the transaction when they make a mistake and will have to call a manager to do it (which can make customers iritable who are standing in line) ... the best solution depends on your scenario.

How exactly did you get an assembly to scan? My assembly items don't have barcodes associated with them and I can't figure out how to get a barcode to print for an Assembly.

And assembly is supposed to allow the removal of the "parts" it is made up of. This is by design. Use a kit as suggested. I think they fixed the Assembly barcode issue in a SP. mt
