How can I add supplier information quickly to all items selected in a filter? I cannot create PO's because I don't have suppliers set for all of my thousands of items and I wonder if there is a quick way to add in a supplier for my items without having to go through every individual item and having to click on each one and then on supplier tab to make changes. That would take days... I am sure there is a faster way but I did not see anything like that in a wizard. Any advice?
You can use a tool like EMS SQL Import Tool ($65) to the Items ID, Supplier ID, Supplier Cost, MPQ and ReorderNumber into the SupplierList Table. Of course this gets a little technical as you need the Item.ID and Supplier.ID for each item and you need to update each items SupplierID in the Items table.
Using the QSImport will update the item and set the Item.SupplierID equal to the correct supplier by just using the ItemLookupCode and the Supplier's Name but will not create an entry in the SupplierList, for some odd reason because your items already exist.
You can also try searching the NG for RMS import tools, a couple of companies have created some and they may have included this functionality.
Otherwise you may need some help from a RMS Partner that has knowledge of SQL and the EMS Import tool. You kind of have to weigh the time you will spend updating each item to how much it would cost you to get your RMS Partner to help you out for an hour or two.
This is doable, because when I worked for retail-pos.com I did this for one of our clients that needed to change the Primary Supplier for a couple sets of items, which is basically the same thing you are trying to do.
