Is there any way to see which customer bought a specific item? I guess I can do an item movement report which shows everything between two dates... but is there a way to select a specific item and just list all customers who bought it?

Filter the Detailed Sales report to the one item in question. Then un-hide the "Customer" column. If customers were assigned to each transaction, you should be able to see who bought what.
