Item Movement vs. Item Movement History

What are these reports used for and how do they differ.

The RMS Help file is useless regarding this.

Thanks. ______________________________________________________

Any specific applications folks use for these reports? Why do you use the one you do (and not the other one)?

TIA.

Hmm... I can't see how to get Reason Codes to show up on an Item Movement History report. Please clue me in. Thanks!

After generating the report, right click on the body of the report, Show/Hide Columns, select the Reason Code column.

Hey Craig, I FINALLY figured out what the heck you were talking about. There are more than one Item Movement History reports. The one you are talking about is hidden away in the Reports:Custom menu. I was always looking at the Item Movement History report in the Reports:Item menu.

It's really stupid that they are in different places yet have the same name -- and that the really useful one is hidden away! UGH!! C'mon Microsoft!

OK, I've calmed down now.

So Craig, how do you use that report to do inventory adjustments? A step-by-step description would be most helpful to make sure I understand you right.

Thanks!

Ok, first you need to make sure you have the right report. It should say Item Movement History with Cost. Since the report you found is in the custom menu it's probably right , but you need to make sure. The default report that comes with RMS doesn't have the cost, just quantities so it won't help you. If it doesn't say 'with Cost' you need to get on customersource and download the right one. Then when you filter by reason code you need to use the name of the reason code, not the ID number. For example: Shrinkage, Store Use, etc. then select the date range you're looking for. I do mine monthly. Save the report so all you have to do is change the date when you want to run it. That's it, you will have the numbers you need to enter into your accounting program. If you don't have access to customersource let me know and I'll email you my report. Craig
