label centering/left margin

My Cognitive Blaster Advantage LX printer prints so close to the left edge of the label that the bar code occasionally is cut off, making it useless. How do I fix this?

I noticed that one can change the printer properties (via the Printer Commands tab) so that there is an "unprintable margin" on the left side of the label. Is that the right way to address this issue? Will it cause me to lose printable area on the other edge of the label?

Please Cc: me directly so I see your answer ASAP. Thanks!

Larry, What kind of a label format file are you using? If you post the lbl files contents here I or someone else may be able to help. Blaster formats usually have a horizontal and vertical starting position. Also what kind of a printer driver are you using.. 'generic/text' or something else?

I appreciate your willingness to help. Unfortunately, I don't know how to answer YOUR questions. Assistance in doing so is appreciated.

When I print a label, I see a list of label formats to use. I select the top one, which says "Cognitive 2.3x1 Standard". I do not know what format this is, nor where it resides on my PC's drive (I tried searching for "Cognitive" ). In RMS Manager's Label Designer, when I try to open label files (.lbl suffix), there are a few that it cannot open. Instead, I get an error saying that it cannot open Barcode Blaster type labels and that I should see Store Operations documentation for assistance with editing such labels. Manager's help doesn't have anything about such labels however. Also, I installed NiceLabel SE3, which came with my Cognitive Advantage LX printer, and it can't open that .lbl file either.

With that information, can you please help me answer your questions?

OMG, this turned out to be the stupidest thing. There is a black plastic piece that sits on the Advantage LX printer spool. If it migrates to the right, the label roll will follow, allowing the barcode to be printed off the edge of the label. To solve this, just push the plastic piece to the left to hold the label roll in place.

Thanks to those who tried to help.
