Custom button with fixed discount

Mar 29, 2007 2 Replies

I've seen posts on displaying the discount dialog and I know how to create custom buttons. However, I haven't seen a complete answer on how to create a button that would apply a fixed discount to one or more items in a transaction. For example, I would like to create a button that would apply a

10% discount to the selected item.

Thanks

You can create a Macro to apply a specific discount amount - there is a Knowledge Base article detailing this available on Customer Source.

There is no built in way of linking a Macro to a Custom Button. If you search this group using Google Groups, you should be able to find posts that give instructions for creating an Addin that launches a macro using SendKeys Commands. The full code for such an add-in has been posted or provided as a link in the past.

You could use a touch screen keyboard instead of a Custom Button to launch your macro. The keyboard will work with a mouse if you don't have a touch monitor. The Touch Screen keyboard will allow you to easily link a macro to a button.

Glenn,

Thanks, I got the KB article and the one on copying macros from register to register and I'm good to go. I know I said "custom button" but I meant "custom keyboard".

Anyway, I'm good to go on this one :). Thanks again.
