This probably won't help much, but here goes...

External Program & External Program (wait): no idea. According to the help file, you can either launch an external program while RMS continues normally or launch an external program and force RMS to wait until the external program has finished. Nothing personal, but if you need help figuring out Custom POS Buttons, you probably won't be calling up too many external programs anytime soon. I'm pretty new at this and I assure you that I am nowhere near using either of these functions.

Internal Command is the easiest to use. There's a list of FireEvent Commands you can use (search the Google archive of this group for "Custom POS Button for Details" to find the complete list) to access most of the commonly requested functions. Sample FireEvent Command: CreateLayaway

I don't know about COM Object (no parameter) or COM Object (Digital Receipt...) but you can use COM Object (Session Object) to access macros you record--if you download and install the files I referred you to in an earlier thread about a custom button for "Tender $20."

The Internal Command:FireEvent Command version is by far the most common usage. You simply type the FireEvent Command in the Command field and away you go. For most functions, this type of Custom Button works great.

Hopefully someone with more expertise will be able to offer more information.

Have you referred to the manual and/or help files with regard to this subject?

You're not searching Google Groups, you're searching the Web. Notice the links above the search field on Google: Web Images Groups Froogle Local...

You need to search 'Groups'. Google archives most of Usenet. This group, microsoft.public.pos, is one of the thousands archived by Google. There's a newsgroup for practically everything. They are a tremendous resource.
