Adding a Custom POS button to select a Category

How do I program a Custom POS key to select items from a specific category? I know that I can use the Touchscreen keyboard but the client requires greater flexability.

There is a file in the store operations/html file called drilldown that you can use for this purpose. I used it for a little while until I started using the touch screen feature. I prefer the touchscreen feature as there are more options when you use it instead of drilldown. Using touchscreen keyboard you can still select categorie or department, but you can also customise it to display products that don't have UPC codes on them like bulk items. Anyway, the drilldown file is what you are looking for. When choosing the style, select 'html window' . In the command field use the magnifying glass to find drilldown in the html file and select it. Thanks for the post Craig,

What I am trying to accomplish is to have the same type of effect as if you did you use the Touchscreen keyboard and selected the category layout. That way you can click on one of the categories and get that nice and large scroll screen to choose an item from that category. I did find the ShowMenu command but don't know if this is it and or where to find the key of the menu option.

What he means is:

In Store Ops, on the menu bar, click DATABASE-REGISTERS-CUSTOM POS BUTTONS Select NEW Set NUMBER=whatever place you want the button in the list i.e. 3rd button down, 3 Set STYLE=INTERNAL HTML WINDOW SET CAPTION= NAME THE BUTTON SET COMMAND= click the magnifying glass and locate the HTM file and select it SET DESCRIPTION= what the button does for personal info

Thank you Mickie. Just to remind you, the name of the file is drilldown.html and it's located in the HTML folder. You can find that folder in Programs/Microsoft Retail Management System/Store Operations/Html It should do what you are looking for. Craig

Thanks guys! I like that idea and just added a LOOKUP button to my registers. The command type: INTERNAL HTML WINDOW did not work, I had to use HTML WINDOW.

We have an Add-on Called RR Touch. You can download an evaluation version to see how it works but it is full featured and very flexible. Contact me for more info.
