Can the function keys be rearranged in an order more comfortable to the end user
No, they can't. Here are a few things you CAN do though:
1) Use the Security features built into RMS to Disable functions that you don't want the user getting into - this doesn't rearrange the buttons/keys, but it will "grey out" the ones you don't use. 2) Hide the keys on the screen and post only the frequently used function key combinations on a 'cheat sheet' 3) Some functions that are normally activated from function keys can be assigned to Custom POS Buttons (on the right hand side of the screen). There was a post a few months ago that included the code for an add-in that uses the SendKeys function to map macros or other function fo a custom pos button - this is kind of advanced... 4) Hide the function keys and enable a touchscreen keyboard. The touchscreen keyboard will work just fine with a mouse. With the touchscreen, all of the function keys will still be available, but you can design a custom set of keys that will display by default - you can put these in any order you choose and include only the functions you want.None of these are really ideal, but maybe they are beter than nothing...

Bill,
Two more things you can do;
hi, i'm new to rms. i ever try to setup a custom keybord configration, put f-key in my order, and deleted some keys. also i set touchscreen enable from store manager->database->register list->register1, and select my configration. but when i run pos, it still load default keybord configration. so could you tell me where i make mistake? btw, i use evalution cd now, but i don't think it's a problem.
also i have another question: if i only have a touchscreen, and i don't have keyboard, can i use pos? at least i canot logon. but mspos can.
any help will be great appreciated.
thanks

on the touchscreen keyboard, touch the "menu" button, then "Custom". The touchscreen will automatically open to the menu it was on when you close the next time POS is opened.
You should be able to log into RMS POS from the touchscreen, but you can't use it to log into Windows - I believe that there are third party touchscreen products that will display a keyboard for the Windows login.

Here is another macro programmable keyboard / keypad option (actually there are several options).
