Does anybody use a Mac to access RMS 2.0 on XP?

Is anybody using a Mac to access RMS 2.0 running on a Windows system?

I am considering replacing one of my XP system with a Mac but need to ensure that I still can use Admin and Manager to connect to the database on a Windows XP system.

Cant comment on RMS 2.0 as yet, but i run windows XP pro on my Macbook Pro, and have no problems at all running RMS SO 1.3 & Hq software and joining a Server 2003 domain, exchange server etc. If your running windows on your mac, it shouldnt be a problem.

I cant see any reason why version 2.0 would be any less likely to work!

Thanks for your fast reply, Phil. That's good news. If you run 1.3 without problem I would not see any problem running 2.0.

And after you mentioned Exchange server do you run the Windows Office or the Mac Office version on your Mac?

I also would connect to a W2K server domain which runs Exchange Server 2000.

Any problems copying your Mac data to the Server 2003 for backup? I currently run daily syncs from my Windows PC (to be replaced by the Mac) to my W2K server for disk-to-disk and then high-speed tape backup.

And do you by any chance also use QuickBooks on your Mac?

Hi Gerd,

I run Windows and OS X on my mac, Whilst in windows XP i have every bit as much function as i do on any of my Dell desktop windows machines, including exchange 2003, backup etc.

When it comes to using the mac on the domain, i havent actuall ever set this up fully, although i know it is possible, there is an article somewere on microsoft.com explaining how to configure connecting to exchange server from Mac OS X... I dont use the server to backup my files in Mac OS at all, so not much help to you on that one.

I really got the mac as i love the hardware, and i use the mac OS software for home use, then in the office i boot into XP and can work away on our network with no issues at all.

Nope, sorry, no experience with QuickBooks at all.

Hope this helps

Phil

I am running Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro and XP, but I failed to get QB

2006 to install and run. RMS 1.3R was no problem.
