OLEDB connection from Access to RMS

I am well-versed in the design and development of database applications, and want to connect to the RMS store operations database via MS Access. I need help configuring the OLEDB settings in Access to connect to the RMS store operations database.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me the settings that need to be selected to make the connection.

Akber: Thanks for the reply. I am trying to connect using the File|Get external data menu command. Unfortunately, the settings you provided do not help me in this situation. Can you give me the settings needed through the File|Get external data menu?

Thanks

hi FRB, you said you want OLEDB that's why I given you connection, to import get external data. you can do following:

Go to Control Panel, then Administration tool, Go to ODBC, Go to System User or File DSN Click the Add button right corner and then select SQL Server Then in the NAME put anything which have meanfull name for teh database connection in the SERVER enter the database servername then click NEXT In the Authtentication select with SQL Server and enter the user id and password of your db server. i.e. sa/sa in the DAtabase click the Change the default database to: and then select the RMS database. then click next next till you get the finish button. (in the database selection sometime per need people uncheck the Use ANSI quoted identifier and paddings and wardning check box you can do if require)

Go to MS Access and click on get External Data then select the ODBC it will list out the all DSN avaialble rememebr the above addtion of DSN procedure you can do it from Access also but for the safe side and to give you more training I following the long path for you.

Select the DSN you created and then it will show you all teh tables, views etc now select whatever you want and then either import the data or link the tables from yoru SQL server server to Access.
