Seems like I predicted this situation as soon as I heard that RMS was going to permanently mask card numbers!!
Wait for the next wave of foolishness from the credit card companies;
They have started sending out credit cards that are not embossed. Currently, if you can't get the card to scan the magnetic stripe, the credit card companies require you use the old knuckle buster to verify that you really had the card there and the carboned receipt was proof.
Now, because the new cards aren't embossed, the manual option can't be used to verify the existence of the card. Photos and/or photocopies don't count as proof. Too may bogus Photoshop versions running around. The card holder denies the charge and you have NO proof that you ever had the card.
Oh yeah, if you manually enter the card number, you still get dinged for the non-qualified rates, usually ~ double the swiped rate.
Smart, eh! Is everyone going back to cash yet?
