How to move my server

I have RMS 2.0 and SQL server 2005. I have my server installed on my register1. I don't think that my register computer has enough juice to host my server and my database. I have been getting 100% cpu usage while running the programs etc. I have also had a lot of time out errors from my printer. I would like to turn a different computer into the server and am hoping that someone could help me through that process. I am a novice, so please keep it very simple. I am not very familiar with sql server and have no idea what to do with it except to make sure that it is running if my connection is lost. I am pretty sure that I am just supposed to change the server name to the new computer's location, and save the database to it somehow, but I am hoping for some better details. Any suggestions and advice is greatly appreciated.

If you are really this unsure about the steps to make this move I strongly suggest that you hire a computer "professional" to do this work for you.

Do you have a reseller who supports your RMS system? They should be able to do this for you efficiently and reasonably.

And make sure that your new server has enough horsepower. If you have less than 7 RMS stations you can probably use a good XP machine as your server. If your system is larger you should consider a real Windows 2003 or 2008 Server.

I am running a small business with 2 licenses. I don't want to spend any more money on this system at this time. I am assuming that if I can move my server to a different computer, my pos touchscreen will work better. I was hoping that it would be as simple as changing the name of the host computer and when logging on, making sure that it was pointed to that new host. I hoping that someone can give me a step by step account of the best way to do that so I don't make a mistake and somehow mess up the configuration. I just want a back up computer to be the server and host the database. I don't want it to run any of my other rms programs like pos management or admin. Is that possible with out having to purchase another license?
