HTML STATUS BAR

At the top of the RMS POS windows there is a status bar which displays my company name and 3 bullet points beneath. What should be display here ? - as even when I have selected an account customer nothing changes (I was expecting to see the account name and telephone number of selected customer)

I have searched the forums and found replacement html files but I cannot download any of the samples for amending the status bar as outlook newsreader can only back date to articles from March this year. Also mentioned in past forums it the ability to change the html file used, but this is missing under configuration - is this because I'm running a newer version ?

And can I check I'm running the latest release, as I've signed up for the support option but have no updates so far through the post my version is

1.3.0203 (from store ops about)

Thank you very very much for any help Kind Regards Paul

By default it shows the Custom Text values for the selected customer. If you go into SO Manager, File/Configuration, Captions and enter captions for the Customer Tab, the captions will also display.

If you want other information displayed in this area, status.htm can be modified.

Thank you, even after enabling and entering custom text into the customer records it was still not showing. However when I resized the html status window it seemed to take affect and is now displaying as I would expect.

How can I obtain or change the status bar to show other information, are the templates available ?

And would you be kind enough to let me know the current version number as I'm running 1.3.0203.

Thank you for your help

Paul,

The HTML Status template is stored in the; C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\HTML folder.

You have it selected in SO Admin | File | Configuration | Register tab

Some status screens have been freely posted here in the past by others and there are some from add-on vendors, New West Technologies

and Digital Retail Solutions

are a couple.

Current version is 1.3.1007, but if you are using Customer Statements, stick with .1005 as they broke them in .1006

Thank you for your help guys I think I understand now how its supposed to work. Does anyone have any custom html scripts they can post for users, I ask because the former posts are unavailable for download via outlook as it will not reach far back enough. If they cannot post them, please send to me snipped-for-privacy@tekmate.co.uk and I will test and attach to this thread for future users.

Thank you once again for all your help, this is a truly great forum.

You must be using Outlook Express or some other type of newsgroup reader to see and download the file attachment. If you are not using a reader, follow the link below to setup Outlook Express. Click on "Open with newsreader" under the MS Retail Management System on the right.

The only way I can overcome this in IE is to share it from a network drive and add the file as a trusted site - however I cannot point MS RMS to any other location than the c:\program files\MS RMS\Store Ops\HTML\status.html.

Please is there any way round this ??? Thanks once again - i'm sure I've missed something !.

Could the wrong status bar have been attached ?

This has become a real niggle of mine now !.

Thanks everyone for all there help so far.

Are you attempting to open it in IE or just the POS program? I get the same when attempting to open in IE, but not in the POS program.

Which one is the problem, I've sent 2.

To change the name or location on your file, SO | Admin | File | Connect | put in your password | File | Configuration | Register tab | Web Status field | put in the path and/or filename you wish. If you can't change this, you need to log into XP using an Administrator password.

OK thanks guys, I think I've cracked it.

In the end moving the html files to a network share (mapped network drive in my case) fixed the issues. I think its a new feature of sp2 that doens't allow some scripting in the html file to run from the local computer. When you run it from a network share it treats it as coming from a different zone and therefore runs.

Thanks Glen for the advise where the paths are for various files, I'd been looking in store ops for ages only to realise that its actually in store ops ADMIN !!!. Thanks Craig for your help too, Glenn posted one attachment file and the other was included in the post as text. (I cannot seem to get the text version working due to some line wrapping and my lack of html to correct this !).

I've re-attached the status bars and given them names to make it easier to download. Descriptions as follows :-

Status (customer account information).zip ===========================* Your Company Name Displayed

  • Customers Company Name
  • Contact Name
  • Address * Telephone
  • Balance
  • Customer Message
  • Available Credit

Status (Total Item Count).zip ===================* Displays Total Tally of items scanned
