Inventory Update

Is there a way to replace item quantities for all stores in HQ and then download those changes to the stores? Reason is....we don't use RMS for inventory control so our purchase orders, transfers, etc. are done in a separate system and downloaded to the stores. Before installing HQ, I would accomplish this by using the Inventory Wizard and replacing old quantities with new ones from a .csv file I created. This was okay but needed to be done at each store and I was hoping that HQ would have a better solution.

Krista,

Are you talking about setting the entire store's onhands to 0, for example, or to a different number?

Then change HQ to 0 also?

Sort of. I would like to change the entire store's on hands to a different number and then change these values in HQ. Ideally, I would like to do it the other way around....change HQ values first and then download to stores so I'd only have to do it the once. :)

Krista,

All items to the same on-hand level or different for different items?

Hi Jeff,

Different on-hand levels for different items.

Thanks, Krista

Krista,

Then the only way your are going to be able to do this is to adjust your levels at HQ and then do a 260 worksheet.

** DANGER ** A 260 replaces _all_ Item info at the stores!! ** DANGER ** Backup first!!

This is worksheet updates the stores to whatever the HQ says they have in stock, committed and prices will be changed too!

Krista, You can also run a worksheet 307 "Adjust Item Quantities" this may be your best bet for changing item quantities on a mass scale. It will set the quantity at each store equal to the quantity in the HQ database. However, the problem of making changes in the the HQ database is significant. There is no tool available in HQ to do large scale changes based on an external file. So, either do it by hand or get some kind of tool. You could use Access or find a custom tool. My company had a custom tool developed for manipulating HQ data. It's pretty good. It's made by a company called ReportWare.
