Matt and all -- DISCOUNTS (I misspoke!)

To Matt and all who replied --

I apologize but I misspoke - we CAN discount by % in Shift-F3. What I meant to ask was how to discuont by $ amount, and not %. In other words it is the opposite of my initial question - we simply are unable to discount by $10 or $25 off unless we create those in Price Level A, B, C. Why is there no way to simply discount by dollar amounts and only by %?

Zorian,

Couple of ways to do it.

When you are finished adding all of your items, Shift-F3, perform discount all items on the left, select sub-total amount on the right and enter the subtotal less the discount, if the subtotal on the screen is 9.85, enter

4.85 for a five dollar discount.

Another option is to create a coupon item, select non stocking and must enter price at time of sale. Enter -5.00 for a five dollar discount. Or create a Discount $5 Coupon, Discount $10 Coupon etc and select one as an item sold. You can enter a negative dollar amount in the price field of the item's properties. You could also setup a reason code for the discount too, this way and the one above.

One more way is to create a tender type called coupon and enter the discount there.

Zorian,

If you choose discounting by "dollar amount" in the F3 discount screen then you can enter a flat amount for a discount.

Good luck, Matt
