Merge customers from two different stores

Jul 14, 2006 3 Replies

I have had plenty (OK, too much) experience with merging accounts at the Store Ops level. The KB article on this topic includes the necessary queries and it seems to work just fine.

Today I came across my first duplicate customer where the second account was created at another store.

Is there a way to merge the purchase history & A/R for two accounts from separate databases?

Jeff,

After considering your suggestion and looking at a few tables, I think that I can accomplish my goal by performing the KB procedure on both SO databases. With global customers, both customer records exist in both databases. If I merge the records in both DBs, the 401s should take care of the rest.

I will proceed and let you know how it goes...

It worked.

Thanks to my WAN, I was able to connect to the remote store DB with SO Admin and run the queries remotely. After both stores completed a 401, the accounts look exactly like I'd expect if I had merged two accounts from the same store.

Of course, if you have lots of stores this could be quite a process...
