Microsoft Point of Sale Newsgroup

I'd like to suggest starting a Microsoft Point of Sale newsgroup to support the Microsoft Point of Sale product.

While occassionally MSPOS posts show up in the RMS newsgroup, it's often not clear if a question is on RMS or on MSPOS. For the new owner of MSPOS, if they do find this newsgroup, it quickly becomes apparent that this newsgroup isn't for MSPOS. Also, if a retailer owns MSPOS, they aren't necessarily aware that RMS is a completely different software title.

If you've ever had trouble sifting through the posts to find information on MSPOS specifically, please consider voting for this suggestion.

I doubt it will happen as this ng is for all 3 point of sales programs, QuickSell 2000 (the father of both RMS & MSPOS), RMS and now MSPOS.

Just make sure to mention that you are using MSPOS in your posts, maybe as a tag line or in your signature.

Thanks for the information Jeff. I found that intriquing and went on a hunt for QuickSell 2000. I get the impression that MSPOS is actually a direct upgrade from QuickSell 2000 and RMS is an indirect upgrade from QuickSell HQ.

Does this sound accurate?

Actually, I'm pretty sure that RMS is an upgrade to Quicksell Commerce. When I bought it 5 years ago, I had the choice between QS 2000 and QS Commerce, because QS Commerce was the upgrade for QS 2000(which was the original)I decided to buy QS Commerce. MSPOS has a lot of the same features that QS

Darril,

QuickSell 2000 was the base product. QuickSell Commerce was the enhanced version. QuickSell Commerce Headquarters allowed QSC multi-store capability

When MS purchased the company that produced them (SMS), MS kept the name QS2K, but changed the name of QSKC and QSKH to Microsoft Retail Management System: Store Operations and Microsoft Retail Management: Headquarters

MSPOS is a direct descendent of QS2K in as much as they have most of the same features, but is a complete re-write as will RMS in the future
