The inability to view transaction details, re-submit as-is or modify unsettled credit card transactions leaves the user with few choices. The credit card vendor may be able to look up the transaction and re-create it from the authorization, but this takes a lot of time and relies on the availability of talented customer service reps at the credit card processor. The alternative is to re-enter the whole transaction in the POS system. This option is usually not available as the user probably does not have the credit card number and, in those cases where they can, the result is a reporting nightmare that leaves the sales reporting invalid - rendering the entire installation useless for serious retail management.
