I am trying to configure a taskpad that will have a button that takes 5% off an entire order with the exception of selected Department(s). Does anyone have a suggestion on how to configure the discount for this action. We have a promotion that will allow customer to bring in a coupon and get 5% off entire order and I now find myself with the task of making that work in the POS.

You should be able to setup a Preset Discount, select the departments which receive this discount, select all departments, then uncheck the department that should not receive the discount.
Then when you create/modify your taskpad, add a button of type Preset Discount, select your preset discount.
