please comment on my RMS wishlist

Sorry if this is crazy, but before I send in my entire wishlist of suggestions for RMS, I thought I'd bounce them off this group (in case I was missing something). Feedback is welcome:

a.. Allow scroll-wheel scrolling in every window that displays a list. For example, the Item Lookup window that appears during PO creation when the "Lookup" button is clicked from a Quickscan entry doesn't allow scroll-wheel scrolling, but the Item Lookup window that appears when the "Edit Item" button is clicked on the Taskpad DOES allow scroll-wheel scrolling. Manager often seems inconsistent in its interface this way (and several other ways!). b.. In the Item Properties Window Change Department List and Category List from being pop-up windows to a drop down list (with auto name completion).

c.. In Create Purchase Orders, allow restriction of suppliers in the list to a small subset of "frequent flyers" and also include "Other." for a rarely used supplier already in the database.

d.. Allow "saves" of frequently chosen purchase order options (like a Memorized Report) to prevent the need to recreate all the options.

e.. Allow drag-and-drop additions to matricies.

f.. The icon color of placed-but-unreceived (aka Open) P.O.s should be different than unplaced (open) ones.

g.. Allow color-coding of P.O.s in the PO window. Also allow visual dividers to be created to sort open, placed, RCVD and closed P.O.s.

h.. Allow copying of P.O.'s contents and pasting into another application without resorting to exporting, a cumbersome process. By the way the HTML to e-mail feature doesn't seem to work right - maybe Outlook Express blocks it thinking it is a virus.

i.. If exiting a PO (regardless of how one is exiting - Esc, close, etc.), have a prompt to save any changes made.

j.. Allow saving of sort order in P.O.s. Don't just default to ILC.

k.. Receiving an unplaced P.O. shouldn't bring up just a warning box. It should bring up a window asking if the status should be CHANGED to placed.

l.. Allow multiple P.O.s to be open simultaneously!

m.. Allow for out-of-stock items to be automatically reordered with the next most preferred (or next cheapest) supplier.

n.. P.O. creation/editing has a field for entering shipping cost, but RECEIVING doesn't, which is inconsistent at the very least. It is likely one only knows the shipping amount upon receiving goods!

o.. Do not separate editing and receiving of a P.O. with different buttons. List the P.O.s and just have a button to open the selected one. Have the appropriate buttons display to receive the P.O. Any other changes made will be edits.

p.. In Matrix Attributes, allow double-clicking on matrix items to show/edit their properties.

q.. Allow display of retail price (and any other item attribute) on a PO. It should be editable on the PO and update item properties. This allows for margin to be maintained as prices go up.

r.. Create a feature to automatically maintain existing margins - do not require that a cumbersome Wizard be run! Allow over-riding of individual RMS auto-markup suggestions under this scheme.

s.. Support multiple Undo/Redo on P.O.s!

t.. Create a feature that will warn when $XXX dollars of orderable product from a preferred supplier is needed. The dollar amount should be configurable so that free shipping minimums can be entered.

Hi Larry,

Great suggestions! I love to see RMS users really making serious use of the product and by your suggestions I can tell you certainly do.

You've got my vote.
