POS (NOT RMS)

POS (NOT RMS)

Would like to see if someone has or could add a Layaway option for POS. We have a small store but would love this to be added...

Please Microsoft - it is in almost all POS today except Microsoft's. It can be used to handle deposits rather than the clumsy way we ahve to deal with them.

We have creted a non inventory item called deposits (with no tax). When a customer puts a deposit down on a new computer, we enter the non inventory item deposit - add a detailed comment to the transaction, analyse the deposit to tender type and complete the transaction. Our accounts people then put this in the accounting system as a deposit received (not a sale). When the individual comes back in to collect his newly built computer we call up the deposit transaction and void it and reneter the new one. The void tells our accounts people to remove the money from deposits received and move it with the balance to the sums received against that sale. This works but is clumsy.

When you add the deposit/layaway - please also add the inventory kit to the inventory side (as is the case in Microsoft Office Accounting 2008 Pro). The physical inventory should also allow you to make an adjustment without knowing the quanity in hand.

We like the POS immensley and think it has a great future in the UK, as and when Microsoft decide to release it. We are stuck with POS 1 at present as v

2 has not been released to partners yet.

Take it from me, if you love MSPOS then you would really love RMS. There are so many more great features than MSPOS. I read a lot of posts about this that say they are just a small single store and RMS is overkill. I only have a single store, but would never consider MSPOS over RMS. It is only a few hundred dollars more, and there are a lot of features you would like having. Don't expect MS to add these functions to MSPOS, it's NEVER going to happen. They consider MSPOS to be a simple replacement for a cash register, that's all. If you want layaways, built in gift cards, and many other features that a lot of people consider a must for a POS system, then go with RMS. You will be so much happier. It won't help to complain about the lack of features in MSPOS, they aren't listening. Craig
