Processing non-plu items(Lottery Sales)

In the plan to upgrade our store's POS to MS RMS, I am struck with a problem.

Please tell me.. how do you process lottery sales with RMS?

Our store has a lottery terminal(British Columbia Lottery Corporation Retailer) which processes all the ticket printing and payout etc. and we would simply enter $xx Lotto Sales / Lotto Payout on our pos and incorporate it.

I am currently testing RMS trial version and I see that I cant process any non-plu items(everything has to have its own look-up code)

Adding every lottery product would also be a problem because it's just not practical to add all possible combinations (packs, numbers, extras etc)

How can I solve this problem?

There are a couple of people that frequent this group that do lotto sales, so they may have some different ideas on implementing this. What I would do is create a department specifically for lotto sales so you could separate them from the other items in reports. Then I would create a non-inventory item and set it to 'Must enter price at the POS' . You could separate this a little further by creating different items for different products: scratch offs, daily number, etc. When you redeem a winning ticket you could then enter a negative price for the item, or create a tender for lotto redemption. Craig is right, we have a lot of clients that do lottery here. I would add just use 'L' for your lottery item - or something like that, Further, all the scratch-offs have barcodes, and you can use that for a PLU AND you can keep inventory for them - a good way to combat shrinkage!
