Processing of Discover Card credit cards

I understand and have setup the Visa/MasterCard merchannt, but only see where one can be setup. Can you have multiple merchants setup and if so, how do you setup the additional merchant? My client needs to process discover as well as Visa/MasterCard.

Discover cards are processed through a different connection than Master Card and Visa. The same goes with American Express. You must set up a merchant account with DiscoverCard and/or American Express to use that credit card type.

You add each one as a separate tender type and on the validation tab you can tell it how to mask. We do not use the internal processor so I can't answer the setup there. We use IC Verify as our processor.

Your processor must be able to handle clearing for Discover and AMEX. They don't actually process them, but serve as middle man. When you get set up with Discover and AMEX, they will give you a merchant number unique for them. At least in ICVerify there is a spot where you put in your merchant number for each card type.

If you are using the Preferred Aquirer processing all you have to do is make certain that your Merchant provider has setup your account to process AMEX and Discover on your Merchant account. Then as Elizabeth said setup your tenders. Once you have confirmed with your Merchant provider that you account is setup do a test transaction and settle the EDC batch. If you don't get a Technical error when settling, you are golden.
