RMS 2.0, Item Alias scans not returning correct item

This has me totally stumped: when we scan a barcode that is stored as an Item's Alias RMS is returning the incorrect item. The number that is scanned is correct in the entry field but the Item returned is incorrect.

Example: ILU = 14061. Alias (barcode) = 731955140618

We can clearly read this correct barcode in the entry field - or on the POS screen - but the correct item is never returned.

In an attempt to remedy this problem I emptied - deleted all records - the Alias table and reimported all of the Alias numbers from a text file. No go: scans still enter correctly but return the wrong item.

Plan B: I deleted all Alias records again and then manually entered several Alias numbers into Item records. Again, no go with the same results: scans still enter correctly but return the wrong item.

Has anyone encountered this and resolved it?

Thank you for your assistance.

Most likely a problem with the scanner programming. Hand key the numbers to prove or dis-prove this. Also place a check mark in Manager Item Option "Display unknown item screen".

Jeff:

Thanks for your reply - but that's not the problem.

The incorrect Item is returned even if the Alias (barcode) is hand-typed into the entry field. All very annoying!

try scanning the barcode into a notepad window to see if the result really equals 731955140618

Check to see if the alias is unique and points to the correct item. select alias, itemlookupcode, description from alias left join item on itemid=item.id where alias='731955140618'

Check to see if you might have an itemlookup or description with that code: select * from item where itemlookupcode+description like '%731955140618%'

Make sure that your HQ records are not different than the store copy. Otherwise run the worksheet 250 on the different entries to overwrite.
