RMS HQ 2.0 maximum stores connected

Hi all,

Is there a case study where over 100 RMS 2.0 Store operations + RMS 2.0 HQ running ?

With a central 1 HQ Server running in our Head Office and with plans rollout RMS 2.0 store operation for approx 100 store operations for the next

2 years.

We rasied a concern on how the HQ Server can effectively communicate to all stores with HQ Access, even if it runs 24/7. Will the HQ Server 2.0 allow multiple communications server such that 1 communications server in the HQ is mapped to say, 20 stores on the store side, but communicates to a single HQ

2.0 Server?

Most branches will run on private DSL, but some are link challenged with just dialups to be used, and thus may never complete the required syncup between the store and Hq.

Thanks !

Hi Jim

Do you mind me asking have you spoke with a partner regarding these issues. I sell RMS in Ireland and would make the following observations if you were asking me these questions. Firstly I would not attempt to install this amount of stores without an add-on we use called RTI. This is available in the US from Positive Technology (I am assuming you are in the US, forgive me if you are not). Basically RMS alone would not be able to cope with communications from your amount of stores and RTI provide real time integration to make this possible. Secondly I could not recommend leaving any stores on a dial-up only basis.

Hi Gaz,

I'm based in Manila validating an RMS HQ 2.0 design. The local RMS partner has little RMS HQ 2.0 experience and mixed info/references from Microsoft website has led me to resort to posting my concern.

Our intent is to have 1 HQ database with several HQ Communications Server installed between the HQ database and remote stores. Since HQ Communications Server can handle connections from multiple stores concurrently, but process sequentially, I need to check if given a large retail site, more HQ Communications Server machines would distribute the load. Is this still true for RMS 2.0? Also where does add-on RTI fit in this scenario?

Really appreciate the help,

Jim

Just letting you know Our copy runs about 100 Rms sites on 2.0 with HQ with

210 other sites polling from commbined servers. We use 4 communications servers to spread out the load with 30 ports on each Since upgading to 2.0 our polling errors have become minimal. Most sites are DSL/broadband but we still have 20 sites dialup using the internet to poll.

We have several sites in the Middle East that have 350+ sites installed with RMS. The issue is not whether theHQ and communication can handle this but what kind of operations are you running and how extensively you use the communication and what data is being transported. So for example if you have 350 sores but each store only does a few hundred transaction a day, does not have global customer, does not use A/R then the application works fine. But if you have a small group where each store has 40 lanes, and they do 30,000+ transaction a day, they use Global Customers, and A/R then may be the size gets limited. In all cases if you have more than a certain number of stores spreading the communication server will answer many of the failure points that you may encounter.
