Check Stores - Quantities

We run RMS 2.0 Store Ops for 14 stores and of course we run HQ at our Headoffice.

We are trying to enable the stores to check other stores' quantities of an item. From various discussions on this board this should be possible.

We have reviewed some of the threads and we have populated the SQL server IP address into the HQ Client Tab found in SO Admin file/configuration at each store but we do not get a CHECK STORES button anywhere.

What are we missing?

The stores do sync with the server as all data uploads and worksheets are processed as schedule.

Update: We found an article in the Knowledge Base and followed it word for word. Even though it was poorly written and we had to try both ways of interpreting the grammar, the bottomline is it didn't work. The CHECK STORES button just doesn't appear anywhere.

Am I wasting time on this venture? What am I missing?

On each POS station, In SO Admin > File > Configuration > HQ Client tab Have you written the address and port # for HQ Client ? (Start Headquarters Client, click File, click Configuration, and then click the HQ Client tab.)

If so just re-start the POS > Item > Properties and you should have the Check stores button.

Yes we have, whether we have done it correctly or not may be a better question.

We have only one POS in the store and this PC also runs the HQ Client. Therefore as per the KB article we set the address on the HQ Client tab in SO to local (computer name - same as the in the setting for the HQ Client configuration).

As for the port we tried leaving it at the default value of 34202 and again at the HQ Server port default value 34200 but neither one worked. (You could interpret the KB's statement on port setting two ways)

As per my moniker "Jack of All trades - Master of None" so if I am completely off base on this feel free to put me out of my misery.

This is a little off topic, but I always use IP addresses instead of names or localhost or local of (local). This avoids some network issues. Of course, you need to set up static IP addresses on your computers to do this.

Assuming you don't do this, check the following:

In HQ Server configuration, make sure the port is set to 34200.

In SO Admin, in the configuration, on the HQ Client tab, set the address to the name of the computer, as you said you have done. The port should be

34202. Then go into HQ Client configuration on the HQ Server tab and make sure you have the right computer name (or IP address) and the port should be 34200. On the HQ Client tab the address will be whatever you put into SO Admin, and the port should be 34202.

The KB article is poor. The help from HQ Client is much better.

Heres some information for you hope this helps:

If you have the HQClient info filled out in SO Admin but no store number in multistore and does not show Sych with HQ you get no check stores button, but if it does show Syched with HQ the button is there.

Also something to consider, How did you create the DB for each store? Did you start with a blank DB put the items in and then filled in the lines? Or did you create one DB import it into HQ then created the stores then spit out a DB for each store to recreate from.

In the File--> Configuration--> Multi-Store Tab is there a number in there and does it show synchronized?

Thanks Jason but still no luck.

I am going to have someone with fresh eyes try your solutions to make sure I haven't overlooked something.

We are still running 1.3 but if the system is set up so that the "Find" window automatically appears (when you press F2) then the "Check Stores" button will not appear.

This is set in Store Op Manager - File/Config/Options/Item Options/Always display find window for Items. Try unchecking it and restart the POS (we actually prefer the convenience of automatically displaying the find window so we give up the option of checking other stores).

We populated the address with its Computer Name not "Local".

We created one store DB then brought it into HQ to create the other stores. All stores have multi-store numbers. All stores sync with data uploads every

15mins, inter-store transfers work, we have not had a functional problem other than the Check Stores issue.

BTW - SOM File store configuration - multi-store tab - it has a number and it shows DB has been synchronized.

Does anyone know what excactly triggers the "Check Store" Button to appear? Many thanks Jack Master

Rob - you nailed the problem, we did have the auto find window option checked. Unchecking it solved the issue and the check stores button now works perfectly.

Like you, our staff have finally become comfortable with the set up especially for finding items that won't scan so changing this option on the auto find will be interesting.

We could have been looking for years before coming across that solution.

The next time my car won't start I will go back into my house and make sure the bathroom light is off. You can never tell what the connection might be.

Thanks Rob - and thanks to all those that replied.
