I got a new CPU and wanted to switch the License from Old to new. To do this you have to To activate Retail Management System Point of Sale (RMS POS) by calling the Activation Team (1 866 542 3062) - and run through a Battery of email menues.
Is there not an easier way? Way make this soooo difficult?
Dany- Has not happened Yet . I called support last week- Played phone tag and finally got connected today. Now i have the phone number and have to call in. But I am adding a new HD to my C:PU, so I will have to wait. I was told by support their is a battery of menues that I have to go through before I get a live body and then I have to have the install ready to go at that time etc. He said be patient because it may take a while.
Hate to beat a dead horse, but there still needs to be an emergency trial or grace period for POS licenses. Even if it is a 2 or 3 day evaluation period, at least you can swap a dead machine out and get up and running right away. It's not a nice feeling when a register goes down and you have to sit on a phone with MS wading through menus and explaining things to get running again.

I also have not moved to 2.0 for that reason. It's not the only reason, but it's the main one. I am just not convinced all the bugs/issues are worked out of 2.0 yet. When you read the posts from the last month or so it seems that 2.0 isn't as stable as the earlier versions(read some of terrible toms posts) Craig
I just tried to order the demo from the link Jeff provided and it says they are no longer available, call customer service.

If you want an eval mode, go here and order a trial version and use that as a 30 day eval. Done! Same disk with a different product key.

Install RMS on the potential backup machine, set everything up, just don't go into POS. When the need arises, go into POS, select register by phone while having your existing key available, tell the person on the phone that you're switching computers, enter the number they give you and you're ready to go in ~5 minutes.
You're _really_ making too much of this.
