Upgrade Headquarters Servers?

OK, this is an awful question, but, when upgrading our RMS, do we also need to upgrade the Headquarters Servers (the connections ports)?

Yes. All Stores and HQ need to be on the same RMS build, or you will get funny errors in HQ Client...

Thanks Glenn,

I have the stores and HQ Manager/Client all on the same versions, but we had this huge error this am with our Ports. We've got HQ Manager and local Client on our SQL serv, and the ports all running local user on our Connections serv. I need to know if something needs to be restructured with the Ports - Headquarters Servers.

I just can not recall from our last upgrades, but I feel like I never had to change anything with those.

Side note: We corrected our errors as recd on our connections server after we found that the ports were dumping temp files like nobody's business. Once we deleted those, the ports opened and stopped hanging.

Any system that is running any part of HQ (Manager, Server, Client, Administrator) or SO (Manager, POS, Administrator) needs to have the updates applied. the only time that you should have to reconfigure any settings after an update to RMS is if you are WAY behind and are upgrading from a version prior to 1.2 SP2 - that one added encryption to the connection settings, so you have to reconfigure all of the DB connections to make them work again.

So, you need to apply the updates, but shouldn't need to reconfigure anything afterward...

OK, we are all set. I upgraded the Headquarters Servers this am. And, apparently, we had not upgraded for the last two upgraded we did. Have to remember those things going forward.

Thanks guys!
