Hi there,
Now that's a surprise: Microsoft decided to shut down all newsgroups, and at the same time they stil create new groups, which will get shut down the very next weeks?

The NNTP-Server is just hosting those newsroups, which will all get shut down. And this "microsoft.public.pos" is a newsgroup, thus it will get shutdown in some days. After all newsgroups are killed, they also will kill the NNTP-server, because without newsgroups there is no need to run a NNTP-server. (NNTP the newsgroup protocol)
"Point Of Sale", basically a CashRegister software for stores etc
The funny thing is they already "killed" this group once. Now they have brought it back. Maybe we have nine lives here? :-)
