What's up Microsoft????

Question

So I'm trying to decide which POS system to buy for my store that's opening in mid September.

I basically get NO answers from my local 'partner' in Atlanta. So I guess they don't need to make a sale. If I call Microsoft, they say 'call your partner'.

I keep finding out about all these shortcomings around RMS (can't export partial POs? very bad!!!, no transaction export to QB or MS accounting)

Normally, I'd expect the sales people to be all over me to make a sale, and never hear from them after. In this case, the sales people aren't there at all. I can't imagine what kind of support to expect after.

If there's a partner who might be interested in making a sale, or if anyone at Microsoft gives a damn, I can be reached at snipped-for-privacy@bellsouth.net

Otherwise, it looks like QB POS for me...

hi, im not a sales rep but whebn i was deciding what to get i simply got all the demos. i belive you can order a demo cd from microsoft for free if your in the states. if not i know i saw some websites mailing demo cd for microsoft retail for 15 dollars. install the demo and use it. create fake orders and recieve them and then ring them up and so on. it will help you make your decicsion. in my opinoin quick books pos is like 5 years back from what microsoft has today. i tried the qucik book pos demo it wasn't anything near what i needed fgor my store. good luck !"Dave" wrote:

Adnan,Thanks. I've got the demos, both RMS and QBPOS. What I don't have is answers to my questions from MS (or the partner).On the other hand, I call Intuit and get an answer.I love the RMS user interface over QBPOS. Hey of the reseller they sent you to doesn't respond tell them that they will direct you to a different one.For one no you can't export Partial po to Qb. Why would you want to send over transactions? It does do a journal entry for sales is that what you want? A few of the top resellers check this board and answer so ask away/

Just a note.....Dave,I looked at both RMS, and QB POS , and 1 thing I did find that Made mydecision , was that QB did not, or still dosn't allow you to use MFG # forproduct ... They make you use your own # system, and Put the MFG # 's in thealt description field, which dosn't show up on the PO.Also Microsoft has 2 versions of their POS out . but try the demo's .....Also look at what accounting software your going to use...We use QB 2005,but I'm tring the Demo MS Small Business accounting ... and it looks prettynice , and integrates with Office alot better than anything out there...Just my opinion.....Dennis
