Copying Quickbooks file

I would like to know what happens when I make a copy of a quickbooks file that someone is using on the network. That is, I merely copy the quickbooks file from the folder. Will the file be updated as of the last entry someone made before I copied the file? I know that there is no file/save command in QB so I assume each transactions that gets recorded means it is updated to the file.

This ought to be easy to test...

Providing that user completes entering the transaction it is saved.

Very bad practice. I suggest that you make sure that no one has the file open before copying.

I doubt that windows will let you copy a file when it is opened by another user

Thanks for the response. Just as an update, Windows did let me copy it and yes it was updated as I suspected. I also agree that it is not good practice. My reasons were to check if entries a staff member was doing were being input correctly.
