Are customized invoices (1) saved to a file that can be transfered to another computer or (2) are they saved within the company file only.
If (2) Can they be exported?

They can be imported and exported.
Both. They are saved within the actual structure of the company data file, but then they can be exported/imported into other data files as a template file. I think only Premiere and Enterprise copies can export templates but any version of QuickBooks (not including SimpleStart) can import them. I believe that's the case, I haven't had a non Premiere version in some time.
