Does anyone know of a way to get a customer list (without exporting to Excel) *without* jobs being added? Seems a basic request but all the lists I look at include lines for all the job names. I've tried filters but only have the option of all customers/jobs or multiple. Multiple doesn't work because it won't update when new customers are added to QB.

I have. The problem is that the list includes jobs.
I want: ABC Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx DEF Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx GHI Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx
Instead I get: ABC Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx ABC Inc.:x (xxx) xxx-xxxx ABC Inc.:xx (xxx) xxx-xxxx DEF Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx DEF Inc.:x (xxx) xxx-xxxx DEF Inc.:xx (xxx) xxx-xxxx GHI Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx GHI Inc.:x (xxx) xxx-xxxx GHI Inc.:xx (xxx) xxx-xxxx

Hmmm, not sure why you are getting the format you are. I'm getting ABC Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx DEF Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx GHI Inc. (xxx) xxx-xxxx

Those customers all have jobs? Are the jobs active?
Tara
Nearly all have multiple jobs, and some are listed as inactive. When I change the filter to active status..list all, I see all of the people in the list with phone numbers and no jobs listed.

What version are you using?
Can you select the "Modify Report" / Display tab (not filter) and uncheck the offending column?

This occurs in all of my versions up to 2008. Its not a column issue unfortunately.

Been one of my peeves for a long time. Unfortunately there isn't a collapse button on the list and QB seems to insist each job is a different customer. I don't have a solution.

I've never used QB to keep contact info so never ran into the problem but sounds like time for an Excel macro to eliminate the duplicate lines semi-automagically.
