EFTPS

Twice a month I have to make an epftps payment. It asks for three things. What I withheld, the medicaid total and the social security total. Since QB keeps employee and employer SS and medicaid separate I have to manually the add up each group separately . Can I create a report that will sub total employee and employer SS together and separately sub total employee and employer Medicaid together and finally give me the total of those three numbers

I use the pay liabilities screen. The Federal withholding amount is on the screen - copy it. Click off the SS amounts (1 click - it selects both emp and co), look at the bottom of the screen and write down the total. Unclick and click the Medicaid amounts (again, 1 click), and write down the total. Click 2 more times to add Withholding, and SS and the total is there for you.

I use the EFTPS - I copy & paste the total from my liability check. Then, I skip over the breakdown - those #'s are not necessary. Been doing this for more than two years - no problem. Had one client that was recording the breakdown - accidently entered wrong # in one and had heck of a time correcting!

N Owen To reply, please change "ONE" to numeral

Jim,

Skip the breakdown screen for SS and MC entirely.

All the IRS really cares about is the total amount.

I have been using EFTPS since the old modem connect days, and they have never needed to have the breakdown of social security & medicare.
