How to change account type for many setup incorrectly

Jan 11, 2006 3 Replies

Using Quickbooks 2003 Pro. I have an expense account called "Utilities" that has (2) sub accounts: "Gas & Electric" and "Water". I incorrectly coded many transactions as just "Utilities" and I want to change them to "Utilities:Gas & Electric". I have created a report that shows me these transactions. How do I change all of them at once instead of clicking on each one from the report and changing them one by one?

Thanks!

Merge the 2 accounts. You will first need to make the 2 sub accounts "primary".

"Utilities"

incorrectly

I did say - make the 2 sub accounts "primary". Make them "main" if you prefer. Then they're not sub accounts, and there's nothing "tricky".

accounts

Merge a main account into a subaccount of the main? That's tricky
