How to display register for debugging

I got my IRA register a bit scrambled. To get it straightened out, I'd like a display that says "Bought Security A", "Sold B", ... over all time. Does Quicken have this capability? If I do a report of all transactions, it seems to not include securitis that have been bought and totally sold out.

And I thought I got through the storm when Vanguard renamed some securities to be "Admiral" shares. It looks like some shares were left, but got renamed to "Investor" shares.

Can someone tell me how to make an investment transaction report for one security that will helpl. TIA.

I don't understand why an Investment Transactions report would not provide the information you need. It has no limitation such as you describe.

You would want to make sure that all accounts where the security was held are selected for the report ... including any hidden accounts ("Show hidden accounts").

Same for the securities: if you have hidden securities which you no longer own, you'd need to tell the report to "show hidden securities".

[Once you elected to "Show hidden ...", you probably still need to select the individual hidden accounts/securities.]

There is no logic in the Investment Transactions report to specifically exclude lots you no longer own. If you don't see the transactions for securities you no longer own, it's for a different reason ... most likely related to the Customization you choose for the report.

To cover the report customizations that come to mind:

1.) On the Display tab, make sure the date range includes all the transactions you want to see. Use "Include all dates" if you have any doubt. 2.) On the Accounts tab, make sure every account that has ever held the security is selected. Use "Select all" if you have any doubt. And make sure you put a check mark in "Show hidden accounts", and a check mark in each individual hidden account, if you have any doubt which accounts might have held the security. 3.) On the Categories tab, use "Select all". 4.) On the Securities tab, make sure every security whose transactions you want to view is selected. This might include having to put a check mark in "Show hidden securities". 5.) On the Actions tab, select every Action (at least to start - you can choose a subset of Actions once you're sure all transactions for the security are being selected). 6.) On the Security Types tab, choose "Select All". 7.) On the Investment Goals tab, choose "Select All".

If you are using a "Saved" report (especially one that has gone through one, or more, conversions), try using Reports > Investing > Investing Transactions to create a new report from scratch.

Not sure if you really mean you were truly "renaming" securities to change your holdings from "Investor" to "Admiral" shares. If that's what you were doing, I don't think that's the right approach. Even though it has it's own drawbacks, I think a Corporate Acquisition is a better choice; it can handle the fact that the conversion may not be exactly 1-for-1 (mine wasn't) ... and it should take into account only the lots you own at the time of the "conversion".

If not all your lots should be converted and you use the Corporate Acquisition; I think you'd need to delete the unwanted "Shares added" transactions (the ones for the lots which were not converted), and modify the "Shares removed" transaction, reducing the number to the number of shares actually converted. In my mind, that seems easier.
