How to Enforce Credit Limits?

Is there any way to enforce a credit limit in Quickbooks?

Enforce? You mean more than the warning message you get saying over credit limit? No there isn't a way to require another password to go by this warning.

I don't get even a warning message. What version of Quickbooks added the warning message?

The warning message you get when you exceed the credit limit amount you give to the particular customer. Check the Customer properties, second tab. (can't remember the name)

I DID set the customer credit limit on the Customer tab, and Quickbooks isn't warning us about anything when we exceed that number.

We are using the US version. I went through all company preferences and it may be there but I didn't seen an option to control this behavior.

QB will only "warn" you when you try to create an invoice or sales receipt, that, when added to the outstanding balance exceeds the amount set in the customer card. The warning is a popup window which the user can override to create the invoice. So, I would verify the amount outstanding, then the amount in the customer card. This is easy to verify.

I don't get that warning. User in question has $44K outstanding balance, and I set credit line to $20K. I created an invoice for $10K and saved it, and I never got any warning at any point.

I have QB2006, just tried it and a warning message popped up when I tried to save the invoice. Maybe it was because the invoice caused it to exceed the credit limit where yours is already way past. Try resetting the credit limit to slightly beyond the current balance and try. Otherwise I cannot say why it is not working, but I have demonstrated it in class many times without failure.

Don't know what to say. I've never had it fail to warn, and it isn't one of the one time messages that can get turned off. Check the help file for credit limit. Try one of the sample files.
