location of QB files

What you didn't understand and still don't is SlowBooks isn't special or different than any other application you run, like word or excel. Exactly the same. Any place you want, get to it exactly the same.

I use QB 2006, and it isn't a problem.

You just put the .QBW file into whatever folder you want. You can then double click it, and QB will open, and remember where that file is.

I also transfer it over the network to my laptop if I am going to be working on it elsewhere.

Just don't get confused and over-write a newer file with an older one. Remember that everytime you open a file with QB it updates the date on the file, even if you don't do any work on it. So you have to pay attention to which file is the most current.
