Print a range of invoices

I have used several other accounting packages but I am baffled about how to do a common task in Quickbooks Pro 2005.

I need to print a range of invoices on demand. The other packages I have used in the past all had a query dialog that let you select something like:

Invoices to Invoices to Invoices for x-open, x-closed, x-all, x-date range

And so forth. All I see is the option to print those that are marked "to be printed". I have a common scenario where we are asked to provide a statement and all invoices for a specific client across a specific date range. These are all invoices that were printed and mailed out weekly over a period of a year or more.

Seems like the only way we can do this is to generate a transaction report for the client and then click each invoice in the list one at a time to call it up and print it. This is quite cumbersome to say the least. I'm actually shocked that something so commonly found in other accounting packages seems to be nonexistant in Quickbooks. Are we missing something or is this just the way it is?

Thanks.

Will the person giving the directive to reprint all of this stuff accept the customer statement with invoice detail? It lists all the line items on the invoice under the invoice number. I understand that you can't always change the way someone wants something handled but this would be a cost effective (both time, paper & ink-wise) way to achieve the broader goal.

We have been maintaining files of paper copies of all invoices for this purpose. When a judge requests copies of everything we have billed a client from xdate to ydate (usually spanning a year or so), we run a statement and then pull the customer file and photocopy the matching invoices. These reports & invoices are for the periodic reports to the judge of the probate court. They want an exact copy of what the client was billed over a specific time period. And they are very fussy about the format.

I'm trying to wean this company from all the paper copies of everything. Running a statement and then telling it to print would let me do something else while it's printing and we wouldn't have to maintain and update all the paper copies. We upgraded to Quickbooks Pro 2005 earlier this year and I was disappointed again not to have some level of this functionality in the new version. Quickbooks is the fourth accounting package I've used over my career and we have use this a lot at other companies. Wonder why it was never put into Quickbooks?

Thanks anyway.

I'm surprised that it has not been added either. BTW, Peachtree allows you to do what you are looking for.

You can reprint each invoice by selecting them individually from the Customer Register. This may not be what you want but is more efficient than your method.

You are missing something - the realization that Quickbooks is such a horrible program that can't do such simple things as the one you described. You can now get an idea about the low level of quality in the rest of its accounting/bookkeeping (non) features.
