QB 2004 compatibillity

Hi All, We've been hapilly using QB 2004 Pro for a few years which is a huge improvement on QB6 however we are now having our web-site re-created and our developer has advised integration with QB wouldn't be a problem but....

Would developing for QB2004 be foolish as the database changed to a "real" database for later versions I believe.

if so, the 2007/2008 upgrade would be the path to follow

Any thoughts?

Cheers Pete

Cheers Support isn't an issue. I used QB6 until April 2006 when I started using the copy of 2004 I bought 18 months earlier. :¬)

If the upgrade is straight forward from 2004 then that's the way I'll go I guess.

Is 2008 a tried and tested version or is it still receiving regular bug-fixes?

Cheers Pete

I got an update Tuesday to XP, eight years after its initial release.

Yep. And SP1 for Vista has been released to manufacturing.

I'm about to pee in my pants.

We do e-mail invoices and sales receipts but don't use lookout. I trust there are no reported issues with Thunderbird?

One other thing... From the comparison chart it says you can only create a "sales order" from the most expensive version Can the "pro" version not create a sales order that can then be converted into a sales invoice?

We use sales orders for creating quotes and "pro-forma" invoices which do not appear as taxable sales. I certainly wouldn't want to pay for a

5 user licence of the "premiere" version to do this when it is available on my 2004 pro version.

Thanks. Pete

This has not changed since version 2004. QB Professional 2004 did not have a Sales Order Feature.

This has not changed since version 2004. QB Professional 2008 has a quote feature (Estimates).

Just noticed that you are from the UK. My response was for the US product. I have no knowledge of UK SKUs.

A "Quotes" option would I guess be the same as my 2004 "sales order"

I'll have to take a look.

In the US versions Quotes are a different animal than a Sales Orders. Amounts entered on quotes do not factor into quantities available for sale when the user inquires about them. Just a guess the same is most likly true for the UK versions.
