QB 2008 vs 2005 - Backups

I note that on upgrade from QB 2005 Pro to 2008 Pro, the size of my backup file magically grew from about 4MB to 15 MB. Why all the extra air?

Beginning with version 2006 Intuit moved QuickBooks to one of the industry standard database engines. The files are indeed larger than the old system's. Moving to the new database engine was a milestone in the history of QB. This has and will benefit all users now and in the future.

If you consider that most hard drives today exceed 100 GiGs 15 MB is nothing. Hell I have two photos of my doll licking his balls that take up more than 15 MB. In any event if you need a smaller file for backup you can always create a portable version of the file.
