QuickBook

I am an unemployed accountant, with experience using Peachtree, Great Plains, SolomonIV, and several mid-range level apps in the hospitality industry. So many of the positions I am not able to apply for say "EXPERT QUICKBOOKS" "QUICKBOOKS EXPERIENCE ONLY". I am pretty adept at learning new accounting applications, but I don't want to lie and say I already know it.

I noticed at Fry's that there is a QuickBooks basic for $99. Does anyone know if this would work for me as a training tool. Or, does it do things so differently that I still wouldn't know QuickBooks as it relates to QuickBooks2006 or QuickBooks Premium?

As I recall Basic was stopped with QB 2005 and replaced with Simple Start in

2006.

FWIW, I would go for Pro or Premier. The boxes usually have comparsons of the products.

If you want to present yourself as a QuickBooks "expert", I would recommend that you get QuickBooks Pro 2006. It has additional features that you should know.

I think you can download a "trial" version and use it for 30 days. You can become an expert in a month.

I'd even go so far as to say get one of the premier versions. I'd think you'd want to also know the sales orders and inventory assemblies included in those versions. Heh, now that I think about it, you should probably just pony up and get the accountants version. I think that has the ability to do it all. Someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong there. That version would probably be what you'd want to have if you do get some clients using QB though.
