Basic questions about ProAdvisor certs

The exams aren't easy, but they aren't terribly difficult either. You have up to 99 tries to pass it. Being a Certified ProAdvisor is valuable for credibilty and trust with new and existing clients. Yes, intuit has webinars and training materials avaialbe for you! It is a great investement in your business!

Let me qualify this by saying that I am not familiar with every training program that Intuit offers...

but it is my understanding that Intuit does not provide ALL of the training needed to pass the exams. You already need to be at a certain level in your understanding of accounting/bookkeeping principles - debits/credits, COA, financial statements, a/r, a/p, a = l +e, etc., etc.

Also, when I took the exam for the first time, part of the signup process stated that examinees needed to be already very familiar with QuickBooks. I don't know if this is still the case.

If somebody has a firm grasp of the foundational aspects of accounting/ bookkeeping, then I think that is enough. Being familiar with QB is good, but I don't think it's totally required. When I first took the exam I had never used QB and I passed with a 94% on the first try. But I took really good notes through out the training part and refered to them constantly during the exam. All that to say that being familar with QB is going to be very helpful for most people.

I think the certs are valuable and I'm glad I have mine. The exams aren't super difficult, but they aren't easy either. Like I already mentioned, you already need to be at a certain level in your accounting knowledge, and being familiar with QB helps.
